Very prolific since 2003, Plum Flower Embroidery can be highly experimental, improvisational, melodic and quiet, trance-like and dark, acoustic songs, loop based ambient pieces, industrial soundscapes, electronic atmospheres mixed with organic, sometimes traditional structures. The favored category is acid folk but that only goes so far in describing the Plum Flower catalog, 26 CDs and counting.
As an artist, Richard Knutson has been working with various bands since 1980 including, Beat The Dutch, Flooding Opera, Sunday Night IC, Frappe Dreamgate, Neutral Sons , White Plum and most recently Churn Milk Joan.
Richard takes a non traditional approach to the Plum Flower catalogue, describing it as "virtual CDs" regarding the music as a fluid body of tracks, track listings are subject to change, versions may be altered, CD covers are likely to be swapped out for better ones. Virtual CDs come and go, nothing stays the same, nothing is permanent.
