Biography
The Liverpool-born post-punk elder statesman Pete Wylie was the leader of the long-running Wah! and all of its variants (Wah! Heat, The Mighty Wah!, Shambeko Say Wah!, etc.). Despite remaining a busy artist with an extensive discography throughout the '80s, most outside of the U.K. only know him as the least famous of The Crucial Three, a short-lived band he was in with Julian Cope and Ian McCulloch. After disbanding The Mighty Wah! in the mid-'80s, he signed to Virgin and released 1987's "solo" Sinful Nation, which was credited to him by his actual name. A near-fatal accident in 1991 almost caused Wylie his life, just after he had reappeared as Pete Wylie and Wah! The Mongrel. Wylie continued with Wah!-related material through the 2000s, releasing new material sporadically. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
