Biography
Queer cabaret pop duo Orchid and Hound is singer John Constantine and songwriter Lawrence Alarcon on keys. They were raised in Los Angeles and met while attending an arts high school. They first started working together after college on a project titled "The Umbrellas: Free Radical Project" with Chuck Hood. The result was a 7 song EP that narrated an installation showcase by Chuck Hood, featured at The Brewery in Los Angeles. The Umbrellas was an abstract essay on the human condition and deconstructed religion, patriotism, and celebrity.

In the summer of 2009 they started to write music based on their influences of classical music, musical theater, rock and roll, and pop - what the boys were raised on. Strikingly original yet retaining a classic familiarity, the songs of Orchid and Hound are addictively constructed pop songs that pack quite a sound for band made of 2.
