Open Country Joy

Open Country Joy was born in Ellensburg, Washington in 1998. The long history of the band has included many different lineups, all revolving around the masterful guitar work and raw, honest vocals of Brandon Brooks. In the early 2000's the rotating cast of band members coalesced into what most OCJ fans consider to be the original lineup which recorded and released the debut CD Tickled By The Source. Following the release of Tickled and a brief tour, OCJ called it quits in late 2002 and everyone went their separate ways. As it happened, Brandon and original drummer Travis Yost both found their way back to Ellensburg in 2004. Without any intention of reviving OCJ, they began jamming with Jeff Dermond on bass. Eventually, they began playing enough old OCJ songs along with the new songs they were writing that the obvious thing to do was to just go ahead and call it OCJ. In 2007, Seth Garrido (sax, guitar, percussion, vocals) joined up, bringing with him an uncanny knack for harmony and groove as well as an incredibly versatile voice. Shortly afterward, Travis left the band to focus on his work with Star Anna and the Laughing Dogs. After a period of remarkable non-productivity, Brandon, Jeff and Seth jammed with Matt Rieger on the drums and the current lineup of OCJ was born. With consistency, OCJ delivers top-notch high-energy country-funk rock and roll.
