Nic TVG (aka TVG Hates TVG and co-owner of Pinecone Moonshine) begins a new piece by meticulously extracting noise and glitches from almost randomly selected audio to construct the atmosphere for his Drum and Bass. Taking one sound and processing it into all the instruments and effects for a track has become more of a meditative practice than a calculated process. As if solving a math equation, Nic balances these sounds to compliment the often lo-fi sounding breakbeats. Musical influences of Thrash, Jazz, IDM, Ambient, Indie rock and more all guide the moment to moment decisions during of arrangement. In the last stages of building the track, edits are applied in one or two sessions and cannot be undone. "Sometimes I feel I have a calming, ambient track and because I'm in a bad mood or am tired, I come to the computer and destroy it. I try to never regret what happens in this stage or think 'will people like this?' as it captures something unique and specific to that moment." Integral to this movement has been Macc who's wisdom and honest feedback freed Nic from getting stuck on engineering allowing him to focus on the music. Nic's goal is to dissociate entirely from thoughts of what the final piece should sound like and focus only on creating art.
