A musician of diverse interests, In 2008 Scumaci composed the original score for British film "CASS" (Optimum Releasing), and performed/co-produced the debut album of Mongolian folk-revivalists "Hanggai", drawing comparisons in the press with The Velvet Underground and Ennio Morricone.
Introducing Hanggai, was the first record to establish the genre described as Chinagrass.
Matteo Scumaci and co-producer Robin Haller, performed and produced the second Chinagrass record with Khazak grassland legend "Marmur", featuring contributions from the late, great, French composer Hector Zazou, and world renowned banjo virtuoso Bela Fleck.. Marmur's album "Eagle" will be released in spring 2009.
