There are at least five artists sharing the name Mafia:

1) Polish pop-rock band,

2) Hungarian Rock/Metal group,

3) A Psytrance group,

4) Russian thrash metal band,

5) Crip gangsta rap group from Nevada.

1) Polish pop-rock band

Formed in Kielce, Poland in 1992, they recorded their debut album Mafia in 1993. Krótka Piosenka O... (Miłości) from this album became the hymn of Jarocin’93 festival.

The height of their popularity was the middle of the Nineties, the albums Gabinety and FM reached the gold status in Poland.

In 1998 the frontman Andrzej Piaseczny decided to leave the band to pursue a solo career. His successor Andrzej Majewski recorded one album 99, but left in 2002 due to some tensions in the band. He was replaced soon after by Bartek Król, winner of the II edition of "Idol", Polish singing competition.

The new lineup recorded Vendetta in 2005 and is currently preparing the next release.

2) Hungarian Rock/Metal group.

A Mafia még 2006 januárjában alakult. Sidlovics Gábort (Zanzibar)már vagy 25 éves barátság fűzi Tóth Levente gitároshoz, aki a a Cult tribute zenekarban, a CultUs-ban is játszik. Vele kezdte el a zenekar alapítását. A Zanzibar basszusgitárosának, Steklács Miklósnak is megtetszett az ötlet, hogy csináljanak egy metal bandát, így ő is csatlakozott. Negyedikként Markó Ádám csapódott hozzájuk, aki a kortárs jazz egyik legjobb magyar ütőse. Játszik többek között Ganxsta Zolee Karteljében, a Special Providence-ben és Miller Zoltán együttesében. A kitűnő zenészekhez már csak egy énekes kellett, Hamza Gábor. Ő a Coffe Shop , a Moo Mee, és a Synkronized elnevezésű Jamiroquai tribute zenekar frontembere. Gábor az MTV A társulat című műsorában lehengerlő előadásmódjával, és nagyon erős hangjával a középdöntőig jutott. - Eleinte csak saját örömünkre írtuk a kemény, zúzós dalokat, nagy hangsúlyt fektetve a dalszövegekre is, de sokak biztatására úgy döntöttünk: a nagyvilágnak is megmutatjuk munkásságukat! 2008 nyarán rögzítettük első lemezünket a Bakery stúdióban melynek címe “Aki mindent lát…”. A lemez november 4-én jelent meg a Hammer/Edge Records gondozásában. November végén a zenekar lemezbemutató turnéra indult a Tankcsapda előzenekaraként.

3) A Psytrance group:

After breaking the dance floors all around the globe all the chemical crew has joined together bringing a special projecto, The Chemical Mafia (CD) Compilation.

9 tracks make by all the chemical crew, each track is a collaboration of 3 or more artists of the chemical crew, it is a pumping storm, hard trance album, using all the skills of the chemical crew, creating a master piece of sounds.

Each artist of the crew gave his touch on most of the tracks and the collaboration between Skazi, Exaile, Rocky, 40%, Beat On Fobia, Damage, Tube and Psychotic Micro has created a monster album, pumping from the beginning to end.

4) Russian thrash metal band

5) Gangsta rap group from Nevada.
