L.S.U. started off as The Lifesavors then after a slight name change to Lifesavers morphed into Lifesavers Underground, followed by a brief stint as L.S. Underground before settling on the initials. However, the band is essentially Michael Knott who also has a number of solo albums and performed as Aunt Bettys, which was Knott's stab at mainstream acclaim. Although a Christian, Knott's writing rarely drifted into that arena, prefering to write songs about characters, both based off of real life and made up.
