Biography

Kim English is an African American electronica and house music singer born in Chicago, Illinois. She has experienced a great deal of success on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play charts, beginning in the mid-nineties and continuing into the 21st century. Her first chart entry came in 1995 and was a minor hit ("I Know a Place," number thirty-two). Between 1999 and 2002 she scored six hits in a row that hit the top two, five of those went to number one: "Unspeakable Joy", "Missing You", "Bumpin' and Jumpin'", "Everyday" and "Treat Me Right". Most of them have received moderate to high rotation on Rhythmic AC and Rhythmic/Dance format radio stations. All of these hit singles (excluding "I Know a Place") are featured on her debut album, "Higher Things" released in late 1998. The album also features an excellent cover of Anita Baker's hit song, "Been So Long."
