In 2004 the bass player and vocalist of Ans. Andur, Madis Aesma alias Tursk started spamming Jaan Pehk alias Orelipoiss with backdrops for new songs over an internet messenger. All done using Fruity Loops 4 and in the spirit of Kraftwerk - Tursk's favourite at the time. Some even had titles, like "Andruse tagasitulek".Read More...
Jaan invented the lyrics, recorded the vocals, mixed the result and returned it. And Köök was born.
The band's first album "Telegramm" was very successful in Estonia and they're currently working on their second full-lenght album. As a sneak preview to the new album, a 7-inch single "Mägede taga" was released in the summer of 2008 which had three new songs on it: "Mägede taga", "Merelaul" and "Ereliukas".
After a few live performances on their own, in 2006, Jaan and Tursk asked a few of their friends to join them as a live-group. Since then, Köök has given a number of concerts with a lineup that consists of Jaan on vocals, Tursk on guitar and backing vocals, Mihkel Kirss (Foto) of Ans. Andur on synthesizer, vocoder and backing vocals, Andreas Johandi (Huns) of Shelton San and Mooses on bass and Tauno Pääslane of ex-Dallas and Stella on guitar and thousand and one effect pedals.
Some of the highlights of their live career were the performances at the Kumu ÖÖ and Plink Plonk festivals in 2008 and two concerts with Estonian National Television's Girls' Choir and the big-band of Music School of Georg Ots in the spring of 2008.
