John David Kent was born in Greenville, TX in June of 1979. Coming from a musical family, he began playing the drums at age 4. At sixteen he teamed with friend Ben Kweller to form the band, Radish. Radish signed with Mercury and began work on their debut album, Restraining Bolt in 1997.

After its release, Radish began touring extensively in the U.S. and Europe with bands such as Lit, Fastball, and Faith No More as well as joining the Lollapalozza tour and the legendary Reading Festival.

In 1999, after recording two records for Mercury, Radish disbanded. John David returned back toTexas where he converted an old bank building into a recording studio, aptly named “The Vault”, and spent the next few years writing songs, and recording & producing other artists.

John David rejoined former music mate, Ben Kweller, to play drums on Ben’s albums, “Sha Sha” and "On My Way". In 2003 and 2004, he toured with Ben extensively again in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Australia, playing with bands such as Kings of Leon, Death Cab For Cutie, and Incubus.

In 2009 John found himself again in a band...but this time not behind the drums but fronting his own country music group, John David Kent. Their debut single, “My Girl", became the “Pick of the Week” recently on CMT.com, was added to CMT’s Pure Country rotation, and quickly climbed the Texas charts. In 2010 they began recording their debut self titled album, "John David Kent", which was released in May of 2011. Their second single,"Back to the Country" was released in August 2011 to radio. They are currently touring all over Texas and the southeast to promote their album.
