I Am Oak is a band formed around dutch singer-songwriter Thijs Kuijken. He combines his voice and acoustic guitar with little choirs, banjo, minimalistic beats, samples and organ sounds. In 2008 he self released Sou Ka EP and the CD Ols Songd. In May 2010 he released On Claws.

The band's name is derived from the village in which Thijs grew up in, named Bergeijk, The Netherlands. This name contains the Dutch word for Oak ('eik'). It also expresses Thijs' love and fascination for nature.
