For Christmas in 2000, the primary engine of I Am Bones, Johannes Gammelby, received a generous box of grandma’s homemade cookies. The content was soon devoured and the box nearly discarded. The intention was to see how far it is possible to take the 2 1⁄2-minute pop-song when you were raised on high octane, aggressive pop. Like Nirvana, Pavement and Pixies.
