Emily Saliers is 1/2 of the folk-rock duo Indigo Girls (along with Amy Ray). She has recorded with many other artists such as Vonda Shepard, Caroline Aiken, Sister Hazel, Sarah Bettens, Lisa Loeb, and Michelle Malone. Emily was born on July 22, 1963 in New Haven, Connecticut. She began her college education at Tulane University, but later transferred to Emory University. Saliers graduated from Emory in 1985 with a degree in English. She was also elected to Phi Beta Kappa as a student.
