An artistically, sublime genius. From his bold designs, paintings, and innovative films, to tattooing and music, he has auspiciously built a name for himself. Born in Columbus, Ohio in 1986, and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, he had the opportunity to embrace and absorb knowledge from distinctive cultures and backgrounds. Being aware of his gift at a young age and maturing in his craft throughout the years, a longevous career was evident. While studying Advertising Design at SCAD, he concluded on a concept that would enable him to make more money off his art: tattooing. At the age of 18, master tattoo artist Miya Bailey agreed to apprentice him at City of Ink. After an apprenticeship under Miya Bailey & Tuki Carter for 2 years, Corey’s innate abilities were sharpened.

Corey created a buzz around Atlanta in 2006 with his prominent creation, Plush.357, his first business which was a graphic t-shirt company specializing in limited edition, hand-printed apparel. Originally designed to galvanize a political response, it instead evolved toward being an exclusive brand. Within 3 years it began to build a tenacious following around the city, but after experiencing some creative differences with his partners he decided it would be best to part from the brand and concentrate solely on his career as a fine artist.

During this time, he hosted his first solo art exhibition The Good, The Bad, and The Exceptionally Beautiful. Influenced by the pulchritudinous experiences in life, the show was an exemplification of the carefree mentality of childhood. Alongside the noteworthy art show, was the awakening of a new addition to the underground hip-hop scene: Mach Five. The alternative rap group was formed in 2007 when Corey teamed up with his best friend Aaron Ware. Deriving from the cartoon Speed Racer, the appellation of Mach Five was inspired by the “Live fast, die young” undertone of the 1960s animated series; perfectly complementing their expeditious deliveries. Their first project, Stepchild EP, was released in 2008 and had an instantaneous allurement of A&R’s and bloggers in the south-east with the release of their first single, “You and Me.” A year later their first complete album, Sex on a Sunday LP, was released with indie label White Light Records. With recent releases of mixtapes such as Playground: A Compilation Vol. 1 and Millennia (which was given a stamp of approval by Phife Dawg of A Tribe Called Quest), and “California Sunshine:, Mach Five has evolved in their sound and continues to garner much attention.

An eminent attribute of Corey is his dexterity in making his name illustrious. Infamous for his unique and diverse marketing abilities, he has found anomalous ways to promote himself such as teaming up with Creative Loafing to present a large-scale event known as the Atlanta Indie Fest. As a music and arts festival, it was created to spotlight the city’s favored local artists. Also established, in 2008, was Greedmontpark.com. As one of Atlanta’s most popular pop culture blogs, the site receives more than 25,000 hits a day. With a fresh intake of writers and blogger, Greedmontpark is advancing toward a well anticipated publication release.

An embodiment of an authentic artist, Corey Davis is continuously making his mark on our culture with his picturesque artwork and lively lyrics. With plans to venture to New York, LA, London and Tokyo, his career holds great anticipation. So who is Corey Davis? He is the epitome of an unfolding icon.
