In 2007, Songwriter Rae Evans played her solo material to violinist Sarah Mayo and they formed a duo based on a love of story-telling, genre-pushing music. In June they won the EXR Manchester acoustic competition and enlisted the talents of Joel Roberts and Leon Scott to form the core of Coraline.
Following a place in the finals of UK Unsigned and a showcase at The Halo, London, Coraline signed to NP records in May 2008 and are preparing to release their debut ep. Coraline works as a collective with many musicians lending their arms, legs and skills at different times. The sounds of Graham Smith, Owain Roberts and Deborah Chandler are featured on The Little Freedoms ep and Jaydev Mistry, Matt Burke, Ruth.Wakefield and Vicky Flint have also appeared as part of the Coraline experience.
Coraline have performed across Manchester and London, including an appearance at exclusive London arts club ‘The Hospital’ and at Manchester's prestigious InTheCity festival and industry showcase. Coraline recently played at Manchester Pride and at Notting Hill Carnival – on a stage floating over the Grand Union Canal.
