Committee Of Thirteen is a Marc Rizzo side project featuring Marc's crafty guitar work and introducing the brilliant vocal melodies of Mike Viso. The band captures songs originally written for Marc's previous project with Coretez. Even as hype and anticipation grew around Coretez, the band was forced to breakup. "These Committee Of Thirteen songs were originally written for Coretez before Roger Vasquez, singer of Coretez, and I parted ways," explains Marc. He added that the song "Voices", which was a clip on the Coretez web site, has now been recorded with Viso's new vocal melodies. When asked how this new collaboration came to be Marc explained "I've known Mike my whole life, we've written and recorded music well before I was even in Ill Nino. We had toyed with the idea of doing a serious project, and with Coretez disbanding, Mike could not have come into the picture at a better time."
The song "A Call" appeared as the feature track on the Phlamencore Records 2005 Summer Sampler CD. When asked how the song "A Call" came to be, Mike Viso replied, "When Marc returned from his last Soulfly tour, Marc, Teddy and I went right into the studio to start writing and recording. "A Call" was the first song we wrote as a band. Actually we wrote it the first time we jammed together." When asked how the lyrical content of the song came to be Viso added "It's really about the uncertainty were facing with this war. We have a lot of obstacles to overcome, I think it's a fucking mess and I wonder how it's all going to be fixed."
