I’m french, born in 1970, living in Paris for a long time now, and started recording my own music quite lately. I produced my first 6 tracks demo in 1999.Read More...
French lyrics, guitar oriented, maybe inspired by [ The Jesus & Mary Chain ] or early 90’s indie noise bands. It was reviewed by the french e-zine PoPnews. They asked me for another track in order to be featured on their first compilation, released in 2000.
I then produced an 11 tracks album demo, which had no particular following. Still in French. For this one I started to use mellotrons, alongside with guitars. I met Andrew Sweeny a long time later, in 2004, after a Barzin show. We decided to work together on his songs. I recorded, arranged and produced his first album, “Monotone”, out in 2005 on the french label Travelling Music. I also recorded arrangements for a split single for Andrew Sweeny and Everything is Fine for the label Hinah.
At the same time I met people from Ocean Music. They asked me for a track for a compilation, out in fall 2004. The track was called “La brume”. I also had the opportunity to be involved in a 3 dates tour with Tamara Williamson, as a piano player. Scary for I’m mainly a (decent) guitar player…
Finally, in 2005, I won a remix contest of french singer Dominique A’s “Dobranoc”. A single was released by his label, Labels/EMI, including the original track plus 4 winning remixes. Then I had to stop music again (had a kid) until the end of 2008 when I started to work on new material. With a big move : I never felt comfortable with french tongue for singing, so I decided to write english lyrics.
A first DIY single was recorded in April, 2009, something very low, some kind of indietronica / slowcore, more or less compared by some, because of the voice, to Thomas Feiner & Anywhen, or David Sylvian. Then I wrote more songs, spent a lot of time recording them after that 4 years break. I had the opportunity to open for a Simon Finn gig in Paris in october, 2009, and had to record a 3 tracks acoustic demo, Invisible Birds EP.
