Boyd Raeburn was an American jazz bandleader and bass saxophonist. His big band, which was active ca. 1944-1947, performed arrangements that were often quite avant-garde. Many of the greatest arrangers passed through his orchestra, such as George Handy, Johnny Richards, Eddie Finckel, & Ralph Flanagan. He started out as a hotel bandleader playing Mickey Mouse

music but decided to lead an ultra modern band.
