1) Punk and hip-hop are sometimes linked, as are hardcore and rap. Except that "hardcore" is often taken to mean moral fickleness and an inclination to dissolute bohemianism or attacks of set-in-stone genre rules. The irony starts with the name – a bonus for what? Listen to Konec civilizace (The End of Civilisation) and again the question arises: Bonus? What bonus? The Bonus society believes in the added value of futility; if you get anything for nothing, don't consider the quality. You know, it's that whole gift horse/mouth thing. Bonus is one provocative guy. He spits strictly on the level, not down at people, which often seems to be the norm in these times. This rapper doesn't need a pulpit or even a soapbox. He looks you straight in the eye. If we don't like something we stick a profane label on it: anarchist, punk, extremist, lefty. Bonus's lyrics are evocative, but there's no moralising. Instead he pulls back the curtain a bit, tells it like it is. And of course he does it over the solidest of solid foundations. All-action Bonus is a phantom of the city, popping up here and there, forging connections. Who could bring David Volence (Prince of Tennis, Colorfactory) and Banán (Lahar) together on one LP? Only somebody with their eyes open, only somebody like Bonus, a man whose melodies are every bit as strong as his opinions.

2) Bonus is Jamie Potter, Matt Carlson, and Scott Goodwin. From Bonus website: "Bonus is semi-active at the moment with Scott and Matt living in Portland, Oregon and Jamie living in Seattle, Washington.
