Agents of Misfortune was a band started by Cliff Burton, Jim Martin and their friend Dave where they played experimental music. There exist a video of them playing at Battle of the Bands in 1984 on RotGrub.com. The band spent a lot of their time at Maxwell Ranch near Cliff's home, and the idea of Agents of Misfortune was to capture Maxwell's ambiance and harsh beauty in a mainstream public environment.
