The 2014 Academy Awards: See Who’s Up For ‘Best Original Song’

News

It’s official: the nominees for the 2014 Academy Awards are out, and when it comes to Best Original Song, we’re having a tough time picking our one-to-win. Pharrell Williams is nominated for his song for the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack, “Happy”, while U2’s beautiful contribution to the film Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom is also up for an award.

Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs wrote a track for the futuristic love story Her, “The Moon Song”, which is up for an Oscar, while the title track from the movie Alone Yet Not Alone also has a nomination under its belt. Rounding out the category is one of the world’s biggest songs right now, “Let It Go” from Disney’s Frozen.

U2’s “Ordinary Love” walked away with a Golden Globe just last week, which means that if it follows the pattern, it could win Best Original Song at the Oscars, but only time will tell. The 2014 Academy Awards take place on Sunday, March 2nd.
