On The Scene: Porcelain Raft Floats Into DC, Hear The Sirens Ring In SF And Eluveitie Storms Grand Rapids

On The Scene

Bringing you a constant variety of music (and Free MP3s, too), our survey of tonight’s live music across the nation includes happenings in D.C., S.F. and G.R.

Mauro Remmiddi (aka Porcelain Raft)

D.C. is the first stop on tonight’s live music survey. Following last night’s show at New York’s Webster Hall, Smith Westerns follow the interstate a few hours south to the nation’s capital where they’ll headline at The Black Cat. Along with openers bleached, the set will feature multi-instrumentalist Mauro Remmiddi (a.k.a. Porcelain Raft). Float in on the show after you float his cut, “Moonwalk.”

Hear The Sirens

Across the country in San Fran, five year old post punk outfit Hear The Sirens join a four band bill at the city’s Thee Parkside. The Livermore, California crew that’s been compared to the likes of Strike Anywhere and Kid Dynamite will join the Shell Corporation and shotdown as as openers for Banner Pilot.

Eluveitie

The Children of Bodom 15th Anniversary tour continues tonight, touching down at The Intersection in Grand Rapids. Along with Threat Signal and Revocation, the night will include a set by unique Celtic Folk/Metal band Eluveitie. According to their bio “they use both traditional Swiss and Celtic instruments alongside electric guitars and drums and inspired by Gothenburg’s Melodic Death Metal Scene.” Not only are their lyrics in English, they’re also in Gaulish (which, with enough alcohol, actually sounds like English).
