Label of the Week – Fierce Panda

Label of the Week

Our latest label to be featured is much-loved London label Fierce Panda. The veteran label have been pioneering some of the most exciting artists since 1994 and are still standing strong in 2012 despite an ever-evolving industry around them.

Lauded as the label to give artists such as Coldplay, The Bluetones, Ash and Supergrass  their entrance into the industry, Fierce Panda was conceived over a beer in a pub by John Harris, Paul Moody and Simon Williams at the tail end of 1993. The label spent a long time releasing a slew of successful singles in the late 90’s and early 00’s before re-positioning themselves as an ‘album label’, releasing full-lengths by Art Brut, The Spinto Band, The Blackout and many more.

In keeping with this weekly feature, Fierce Panda have provided us with three tracks from three of their current spotlight artists to give away for absolutely free. Check them out below:

Hatcham Social – Like An Animal

South Londoners Hatcham Social (composed of brothers Toby and Finn Kidd plus David Claxton and Riley Difford) are an indie-pop band who, in a similar vein to Fierce Panda, released a bunch of singles before settling down to write 2009’s debut full length You Dig The Tunnel, I’ll Hide The Soil. “Like An Animal” was released as a limited edition Free Download single last year and is a taster of what is to come on their upcoming second full length, entitled About Girls. “Like An Animal” is now back as an exclusive free download.
