You’re My Biggest Fan: This Week’s Staff Faves

Weekly Playlist

It’s been a week of bump and grind here at MP3.com, home of free songs from the M Machine, Le Butcherettes and F Stokes, all on our favorites list!

Just yesterday, we dropped a new tune on you in our “pop” category called “Trafalgar,” from the mysterious band known as the M Machine.

“‘Trafalgar’ bumps hard with a relentless bass line and heavyweight synths,” Phil told us, “destined for setting off a maelstrom of cheers and glow sticks at the height of a DJ set.”

“What defines me as a man is I’m willing at any moment to go homeless for this dream,” F. Stokes said in a recent YRB Magazine interview. “I am willing at any moment to drop everything I have, absolutely, right now – I don’t care about what girl I’m with, I don’t care where I stay, I don’t care about what’s in my pocket – to join a tour that I’m not paid for. Right now, period.”

That’s the kind of passion that Anngie heard in one of our favorite R&B tracks from this past week, Stokes’ “My Simple,” a song that pays tribute to “the decidedly unglamorous life of living in a small town and living a wholesome life.”

In the rock department, Teri Gender Bender’s trio Le Butcherettes screamed the way to the top of our favorites list this week.

“Le Butcherettes combine the lyrical power (of Patti Smith, Bikini Kill and Karen-O),” I said in my post, “with a fierce rhythmic pulse that is for all the world commensurate with what the Dead Weather have been turning out.”
