On the Scene: Melbourne

Music

Australia’s southern city boomed more than 150 years ago when a goldrush made the little outpost on the coastline flourish into the metropolis we know and love. It’s one of the busiest cities in the southern hemisphere, and it’s got a vibrant music scene to go with it.

With iconic musicians like Brody Dalle and Flea calling it a hometown, and Mushroom Records operating out of the city for decades, Melbourne’s not short of great music. But there’s something twee in the air down under at the moment.
