Label Of The Week: Full Time Hobby

Label of the Week

Describing themselves as “proudly independent,” the folks who run Full Time Hobby have a true passion for music and have carved out a niche for themselves by releasing a sparkling array of musical gems.

Full Time Hobby launched in January 2004, and its first-ever release was a 7″ EP by Portland, Oregon’s Viva Voce. The release made a statement of intent with psychedelic-tinged rock on a classic indie format. Since then, the label has cast its net far and wide in order to capture and release the energy of like-minded artists across the world from their base in London.

You can expect a Full Time Hobby release to showcase the inventive, forward-thinking and idiosyncratic side of independent music, whether it’s Texas garage-rock firebrands White Denim or Brighton’s own Krautrock devotees Fujiya & Miyagi.

Today, experimental folk artists Tunng and The Accidental sit alongside young punk upstarts Let’s Wrestle and shoegazers School of Seven Bells on Full Time Hobby’s varied roster.

Below you can download free MP3s from some of the label’s best artists.
